What is an RSS Feed?

An RSS feed is a free subscription. You are subscribing to receive updates that will arrive on your computer screen when we have added new content. You can get information about exciting upcoming events at the Aesthetic Realism Foundation, new exhibitions at the Terrain Gallery, and new issues of the international periodical The Right of Aesthetic Realism to Be Known.

What does RSS stand for? Most people agree that RSS is the acronym for 'Really Simple Syndication.' It is a simple way of delivering information to many people who wish to receive it.

What Do I Do First?

To start using RSS feeds you need to take the following steps (note that once you set up the RSS, updates will appear on your computer screen like receiving an email).

1. You Need to Download a Free RSS Reader.

You will need to install a small program on your computer known as an RSS Reader. It gives your computer the ability to check for the updates you choose -- new postings and so on -- and make them available on your screen. This software is available free on the web, and, generally speaking, is user-friendly.

You can find a short list of readers we can recommend at the bottom of this page. There are many other readers to be found by searching the web. Note that different readers work on different operating systems (i.e. PC or MAC). You will need to choose a reader that will work with your computer.

Many modern browsers, including Firefox, Opera, Internet Explorer and Safari, automatically check for feeds for you when you visit a website, and display the orange RSS icon when they find one. You would click on this icon if you wish to subscribe to the updates (or announcements) this website offers. This can make subscribing to feeds easier than looking for the orange icon on your own. Check the instructions of your browser to find out how to use it.

2. Once I Have a Reader, How Do I Subscribe to an RSS Feed?

Once a reader is installed on your computer and ready to be used, the next step is to subscribe to the Aesthetic Realism Foundation RSS feeds. To do so look for a "Subscribe" Icon on your reader. Many icons look like some version of the icon shown above.

The subscription instructions will ask you enter the URL (web address) of the website you want to follow.

For events, on the Aesthetic Realism Foundation website, enter the following address (it is easier to copy and paste):

For The Right of Aesthetic Realism to Be Known enter

For events and exhibits at the Terrain Gallery enter
