Poetry of Karen Van Outryve

The Red Sun

The earth now turns

And we no longer see the sun.

But it was a red sun.

It was a red sun!

So red

So red

I never will forget

Though now we only see

The light reflected from the clouds above

And they appear to be

The very floor of Heaven.

The clouds are glowing

The red sun is there.

The red sun will be there

Forever.

A blazing winter sunset, as seen from a window in a very tall building, made for a feeling that the moment is at one with eternity. Even as it fades and disappears, the fidelity of the sun can be felt.
